Rotherham Schools Select trials for next seasons U9s teams (Season 25/26)

We are please to invite nominations for next seasons U9s Rotherham Schools Select Boys representative side.
This is for boys who will be in Year 4 September 2025 and attend a Rotherham School.
The location of the trials will be at Phoenix Sports, Pavilion Lane (off Bawtry Road), Brinsworth, S60 5PA.
The dates of the trials will be:
Trial 1 - Wednesday 16th April, meet from 5pm, start at 5:30pm.
Trial 2 - Wednesday 23rd April, meet from 5pm, start at 5:30pm
Nominations are open to all confident footballers who will attend a Rotherham Primary School in September 2025.
Please note that you will be signing your child up to trial for a regional representative team and before doing so consider the standard of player that will be required to be successful from these trials.
In past years it has become increasingly difficult to manage upset children who have been signed up to a trial which they aren't quite ready for.
From these trials two representative squads will be chosen; a 1st Team & a Development Team.
The 1st Team will manage their own fixtures and training sessions throughout the season. The Development Team will play in the North Derbyshire Youth Football League.
It is an honor to be selected to represent your region at any standard & players selected in either squad will have made it into the best 20 players in our town.
If selected representing your school district does not prevent you from playing for your Grassroots Team or Professional Club Academy as well.
In short; the process will include 2 trials and a potential for a trial game (this might not be needed). There will be 3 independent selectors present at each trial, each child is assessed and scored at the trials, with the best scoring make it through to Trial 2 & then finally into one of the two squads.
There will be an opportunity to attend a briefing by our Chairman if any parents would like a better idea of how the process works in more detail.
At this point with this age group, because there is no manager appointed before the trials, the selection process will be in control of the Executive Committee of the Association. If large numbers of players sign up the likelihood is that numbers will be cut after the 1st trial.
Note - the reason at this age that managers are not appointed until AFTER the squads are selected is to ensure total impartiality of the trials system.
Squads will be selected and parents notified within 7-days of the final trial. If numbers are cut from Trial 1 to Trial 2 parents of players who will not be invited back to Trial 2 will be notified within 48 hours of Trial 1.
